  1. This is the outstanding ProTree BBS software.  This BBS system has some
  2. outstanding features not found in any other system on the market, let alone
  3. free from the public domain.  Let me list some of the features, then i'll
  4. tell you how to log on and use this downloaded program.

  6. Instant one key input:  You need never wait for a prompt, you may input
  7.                         a command at any time.
  8.  
  9. Byte Counter:  You need not own a clock to control log on time.  The system
  10.                has several byte settings to control the time a user is online
  11.  
  12. 80 Col Support: The software will check for, and initilize the 80 col card on
  13.                 an Apple ][e.
  14.  
  15. Unlimited Menus & Boards:  Have any nuumber of menus or boards, either text
  16.                            file menus, or generated by the Protree system.

  18. X-Modem Downloads:  The download system with this paticular system supports
  19.                     standard x-modem protocal.

  21. The system also has E-Mail, Feedback, and most standard bbs features
  22.

  24. Initial Logon Information

  27. First, unpack the two files using Dalton 2.1.  After unpacking, boot your
  28. Prodos system disk.  When in basic, insert the Protree Disk side 1 into the
  29. drive.  Now type Prefix,S6,D1.  Now, type -STARTUP.  This will load the
  30. Protree system.  If you have 128k, it will load /RAM with the program files
  31. for faster access.  Now, just hit T and log on as a new user.  After you
  32. finish, the program will log you off and return to the wait screen.  Now,
  33. type O and then U to enter the user utilities.  Press V to validate a new
  34. user.  It will ask you to validate yourself, do it, and then set your security level to 63.  Set your daily call limit to 9 and your time limit to
  35. 9 for unlimited access.  Set Index bit 19 to 9, and your class code to S,
  36. this just made you a sysop.  Now press S to save the whole mess, and then
  37. B to enter the system again.  Now, read the file "This System" off the main
  38. menu, and then go to the General Board, and read the 6 messages which will
  39. tell you how to operate the system.

  41. We encourage you to give the Protree system to everyone.  However, please
  42. leave the 6 messages and the "This System" file on your hand out version
  43. Please don't give out a configured version, as you no not what modem they
  44. are using.  It is best to just make a copy of this original to pass out
  45. to your friends.
